About Suzette

Suzette Snyder is currently an attorney at Du Plessis & Van der Westhuizen Inc.  She obtained the highest mark in the North West for Paper 2 during the second sitting this year.

Background

"In 2009, I matriculated from High School Rustenburg.  I started my LLB degree with Unisa in July 2017 and finished in December 2021."

On enrolling at the Gawie le Roux Institute of Law

"I enrolled with Gawie le Roux in September 2023.  It was my first attempt at the notary and conveyancing exams.  I got an oral for both my conveyancing exams and failed notary.  I requested the updated notes in 2024 and attempted both conveyancing and notary again in April and September.  I received an oral for conveyancing, and I failed notary.

I opted for the recordings and detailed notes.  Gawie le Roux’s notes are organised, consistent, and detailed.  How Erinda explains a process is absolutely astonishing.  Maybe you won't understand what she is explaining in the beginning, but at the end you definitely will."

On facing challenges

"2024 was the hardest time of my life, and it still is.  My mom passed away on 1 April 2024, and I still went and wrote the conveyancing and notary exams on 17, 18, and 24 April 2024 to honour her.  She was a conveyancing typist with 50 years of experience.  She was my teacher and my biggest supporter.  When I told her I failed the oral for conveyancing in September 2023, she laughed at me because she thought I was joking and could not believe I failed.  She was an icon in the conveyancing field, and no one was as good at conveyancing as she was."

"The feeling of passing is so big that it takes away all the times you have failed.  Every time I studied for the conveyancing exam, I learned something new, and some previous concept made more sense."

"Every person is different, and one should not rely on statistics because you can be the one who changes the statistics."

Suzette's conveyancing exam tips

"You must listen to the recordings in depth and practice, practice, and practice the documents.  Do not rely on the Act booklet.  Do not take a break and keep going.  Really stay positive."

What's next?

"I only focused on conveyancing in 2025.  I will be attempting my notary in 2026 and passing it with Gawie le Roux's recordings and updated study material."
