A major shift occurred in the Mineral Rights landscape when the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002 came into operation in 2004. The process for the acquisition and registration of Mineral Rights in South Africa was radically amended and has recently been included as an addition to the syllabus for the LPC’s notarial practice examination.
