Hundreds of aspiring legal practitioners complete the GLR PVT School each year.
You may know PVT as “practical legal training” or “law school,” and this is only one mandatory step on the road to admission as an attorney.
Excelling in either the 400-hour or 150-hour programmes is no easy task. It takes immeasurable dedication and self-discipline. That’s why we reward the top achievers in each cohort after each intake ends.
About the award ceremonies
To reward alumni for their hard work and outstanding marks, the Gawie le Roux Institute of Law hosts a virtual award ceremony four to five times a year. These ceremonies aim to celebrate our alumni and provide top achievers with an opportunity to upskill even further.
Ceremonies take place shortly after each four-month PVT programme has concluded. Students receive their certificates, and thereafter invitations are sent via email to all Gawie le Roux law school students who were a part of that particular intake.
Eligibility requirements
You do not have to enter to be eligible for an award. Our dedicated GLR PVT School staff determine which students are eligible for an award based on their average for the entire programme comprising 14 modules.
Your chosen study option (online attendance or recordings) will not affect your eligibility.

- Vouchers are awarded to top achievers. The vouchers may be used to attend any courses, workshops, or webinars offered at the Gawie le Roux Institute of Law.
- The vouchers are valid for two years and may not be exchanged for cash or transferred to another person.
- You’ll receive a certificate stating that you were a top achiever in your programme.
- Prizes are allocated solely according to the highest marks achieved.
- Shortlisted candidates are not required to attend the ceremonies to receive their prizes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I attend in person?
The award ceremonies are presented via Zoom during lunchtime to give students across the country an opportunity to attend.
May I invite a guest to celebrate with me?
Yes. We realise that it sometimes takes a village.
Will a recording be available?
The ceremonies are recorded if you are unable to attend. You can request access to the recording from the PVT team.
