We recently hosted another virtual Gawie le Roux Institute of Law Awards Ceremony to celebrate the success of those of you who passed an LPC exam in the first semester of 2023.  Self-development is an inside job but a little support from one's peers doesn't hurt.  Winners walked away with Gawie le Roux vouchers that can be spent on any of our courses, workshops, and webinars.

Here are some of the top achievers around the country who entered.

 

Charlene Goko
- Charlene Goko
  (Notarial exam)

"Ms Charlene Goko graduated with an LLB from the University of Cape Town in 2016, with distinction.  She then joined TWB - a leading South African boutique law firm - where she began her articles in 2017 and subsequently became an admitted attorney in 2019.  Her fields of expertise include commercial litigation, arbitrations, and family law."

 

Alexandra Duggan

“I completed my LLB at Stellenbosch University in 2021 and am fortunate enough to have started my articles in 2022 at BDE Attorneys in Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal.  The Gawie le Roux course not only gave me confidence but also made me excited about practising law.”

 

Kwanele Diniso

"Kwanele Diniso is currently a second-year Candidate Attorney at a top law firm in South Africa.  He is also a Bachelor of Laws graduate from the University of Johannesburg. He is a technology and literature fanatic who enjoys playing chess in his free time."

"I am currently practising as a Candidate Attorney at Phillip Silver Mathura Inc Attorneys, a boutique firm in Melrose Arch Johannesburg.  I completed my LLB in 2020 at the University of Pretoria, and with the help of the Gawie le Roux Institute of Law's board exam preparation course successfully completed my Attorneys' competency-based examinations.  l will hopefully have a date to be admitted as an attorney of the High Court shortly.  I have discovered an immense passion for law, problem-solving, and general comprehension, and I am excited to continue to learn and grow in the legal profession."

"Since July 2018, I have been serving as an Information Officer at Ceres Fruit Growers (Pty) Ltd in Ceres.  Here I apply my strong administrative, organisational, and communication skills to manage information-related matters within the organisation, as well as between the organisation and our various producers and industry roleplayers.  My dedication to self-improvement and gaining knowledge remained steadfast, and on September 1, 2023, I achieved a significant milestone by being admitted as a Conveyancer and Notary in the High Court of South Africa, Western Cape Division." "My name is Saeef Khan, I obtained my LLB degree at the University of Pretoria and have served my articles (PVT) at Bruno Simao Attorneys and Fawzia Khan & Associates respectively.  I have just recently been admitted as a legal practitioner.  I am an attorney at Fawzia Khan & Associates, an established law firm in operation for over 30 years and who have become industry leaders in family law.  I find myself gravitating towards family and property law and intend on specialising in these fields.  I believe it is essential to surround yourself with greatness and to that extent I am truly grateful for my mentors as well as Gawie le Roux for their training leading up to the board exams.”

 

Vida Scheepers

"I am an Advocate, practicing mainly in family law, with specific focus on cases involving children.  I am an internationally accredited mediator with additional training in child participation, better known as voice-of-the-child facilitation.  I am also a member of the Gauteng Society of Advocates.  I am considering converting to a trust advocate and therefore had to pass paper 4 of the attorneys' admission examinations.  I would also like to thank the Gawie le Roux Institute of Law, without their course material and presentation, support, and assistance it would have been impossible to pass."

"Stacy-lee is a driven and enthusiastic junior associate, holding qualifications as an Attorney, Notary Public, and Conveyancer.  With her admission as an Attorney and Notary Public in March 2023, followed by her admission as a Conveyancer in September 2023, Stacy-lee demonstrates unwavering commitment to her professional pursuits.  Prior to embarking on her legal career, Stacy-lee obtained a degree as a Naturopathic Doctor in 2016.  However, her passion for law led her to pursue a law degree, which she successfully completed with distinction through UNISA in 2020.  Currently, she practises in Somerset West. Her ultimate goal is to excel as a proficient Conveyancer."

 

Kelly Barnett

"I am currently self-employed and work part-time for a legal website, as well as for a Conveyancing Attorney.  Having recently passed my conveyancing and notary examinations, I am in the process of my application for admission. I passed both conveyancing exams on my first attempt.  While still in “study mode” I decided to attempt the notary exam.  I once again signed up with Gawie le Roux and studied as much as I could. I passed the notary exam in April 2023 with 86.5%.  I am optimistic that my successful completion of these two examinations will lead to new business opportunities, both as a Conveyancer and a Notary."

 

Lesedi Manyike

"Lesedi Manyike completed her Bachelor of Laws Degree in 2020 and served her articles at Annemarie Swanepoel Attorneys from 2021-2022.  She was admitted as an Attorney in May of 2023.  She enrolled for the Course in conveyancing in 2022 while still serving her articles and completed her conveyancing examination in April this year whereafter was admitted as a Conveyancer.  She is currently employed as a Conveyancer at Annemarie Swanepoel Attorneys which is situated in Nelspruit.  She is currently enrolled with the Institute for the Course in notarial practice with the hope of writing the Notarial practice examination in April."

 

Nadene Blankendaal

"I am a passionate and motivated young individual currently residing in Johannesburg.  During my tertiary education I worked as a legal secretary at a law firm while studying towards the profession that I love.  I joined Etienne de Heus Attorneys in 2022 as a Candidate Attorney eager to conquer any challenge.  Prior to my professional career, I obtained my BCom Law degree and Diploma in Spanish for beginners from the North-West University of Potchefstroom whereafter I graduated with my LLB degree from the University of South Africa."
